Authentic snowshoe safari to Korouoma Frozen Waterfalls

At first, we’ll drive to Posio area, 107 km away from Rovaniemi. Korouoma canyon is millions of years old fracture and  a natural reserve. Its Frozen Waterfalls are magical and remain frozen until late spring. Precipitation and sub-zero temperatures determine the number and shape of frozen waterfalls.

The snowy surroundings of Korouoma Canyon provide excellent conditions for winter hiking surrounded by unforgettable views. Hiking is a perfect activity for the whole family as anyone can do it – no previous experience required. With winter overalls, proper snowshoes and boots anyone can walk in deep snow or along the paths quite comfortably.

The 5 km long circular trail is of moderate difficulty because of some altitude chances, but easier and more enjoyable with snowshoes and ski pads! We will follow a marked trail, but we’ll do off-road hiking in untouchable snow as much as possible!

Hot juice and biscuits are served on the way. Before getting back we will have a longer break by  open fire. We’ll make the fire together and enjoy traditional Finnish coffee and tea with baked goods, as well as grilled sausages and marshmallows.
